  1. Measure the finished width of your curtain panel and subtract 1/2" for clearance. Cut your bar to this length. For most patio panels up to 84" wide, 1" x 1/8" aluminum flat bar is strong enough without being heavy. PVC flat bar is lighter and won't rust but flexes more on wider panels — fine for up to 54" widths.
